Sandy Beach, Porthcawl Round 1 - Saturday 15th June 2019

LOCATION:                       Sandy Beach, Porthcawl, Wales

DATE:                                Saturday 15th June 2019
START TIME:                     13:00hrs HT is at 17:30hrs

BEACH ACCESS:                Follow track through former caravan site off Rhych Avenue (see map above). Access to the beach for Boats and safety cover only is gained by turning on to Rhych avenue. Half way down there is a right turn through a barrier.

 

Porthcawl will be the same set up for the Sunday - a tractor and driver are available for towing on and off the beach. DO NOT attempt to access using a 4x4 the sand is very soft and you will get stuck. Plenty of parking is available near to the High Tide complex and on the esplanade. Please pay attention to parking areas and requirements to pay.

 


Only vehicles that tow a boat will be allowed to park next to the lifeguard tower. Please try to keep obstructions to a minimum and respect local residents and business owners. Access to the beach for Boats and safety cover only is gained by turning on to Rhych avenue. Half way down there is a right turn through a barrier. Follow the road in the direction of the lifeguard station (you won't miss it) The waste land is open to public so be aware of children and dogs off the lead. 5mph with hazard lights being used is desirable.

 


The exact time of this event will depend on beach access - the slipway is under water at high tide. Racing should be starting around 13:00hrs . A swift exit from the beach is required before high tide limits access and makes the sand VERY soft and deep.

PARKING:                          No towing vehicles on the beach - tractor provided as sand gets extremely soft and deep and a public liability insurance now required by beach owner. Parking is available above the beach. Please do not obstruct the lifeguard building or the slip way as access is required by RNLI. Do not leave valuables on display in your cars.
TOWING ON BEACH:        A Tractor will tow boats down on to the beach.

ACCOMODATION:           

Saturday the 15th June 2019 UKSRL event - Coney Beach, Porthcawl, South Wales.


First race 13:00, high tide 17:30 but will Obscure slipway so need to be moving around 16:00.

Evening event will be provided by Llantwit Major SLSC - BBQ and buffet will be supplied. Bring your own beer - you now have more money for this as you no longer have to pay to enter Wales !

Food will be served around 18:30 depending on finish times of event.

*Toilets and shower facilities will

be available at the club during the evening.


Please note that the Council are clamping down on parking at the beach and it is advisable to use Acorn campsite at the end on beach road for accommodation.
